Corporate Social Responsibility
A response to the Social Dimension of Globalization
in China
Project Description
This project is supported by EU commission
financially and lasts 18 months. It belongs
to Asia-Invest programme. The project mainly
focuses on the implementation of CSR as
a means to create a social dimension within
globalization. China has been chosen as
the country to try out the idea. The objective
is to develop a CSR consultancy concept
and provide training to consultants as to
better prepare them to introduce CSR in
Chinese enterprises. Besides consultants,
the target group covers enterprises, employees
and workers, local authorities, government
bodies and local auditing organizations.
The partnership is composed with Danish
and Belgian CSR experts who
work closely together with Chinese CSR experts
and business consultants.
Suzhou Association of International Economic
& Technical Cooperation ¨SAIETC©
is responsible for recruiting 20 consultants
from the public and private sector, which
can take part in the training programme
of CSR. 40 enterprises from Suzhou area
take part in the project and start up CSR
activities during the project. These enterprises
have the opportunity through training and
advice, to obtain an international CSR standard.
Results and outputs are disseminated throughout
the project period and the partners will
make sure that the Chinese organizations
and enterprises that are taking part in
the project will be duly promoted.
The project is followed closely by EU officials
and during the Chinese partners visit to
Europe a meeting with EU officials working
with CSR are arranged.
Project Objective
The objectives of the project are as follows:
- To introduce the concept of CSR to Chinese
enterprises within the textile industry.
- To develop a consultancy concept as
a co-operation between European CSR experts
and Chinese consultants to implement CSR
in Chinese enterprises.
- To train a number of Chinese consultants
in the introduction and implementation
of CSR in Chinese enterprises.
- To develop (on the basis of already
existing CSR instruments) and introduce
a Chinese CSR certificate, which includes
auditing routines.
- To build up or create a Chinese CSR
network between CSR consultants, CSR experts,
local authorities government bodies and
auditing organizations which is in charge
of CSR auditing responsibility.
